Q + A

What is the dress code?

The dress code for Saturday is cocktail attire. Wear something you love and that will allow you to dance the night away. For men, we recommend a suit and tie.

Temperatures and weather in September in New York can vary widely so check closer to the date! A light jacket might be needed.

There is no dress code for Friday night, but if you need inspiration, think sun dresses, jumpsuits, jeans and a great top...anything that makes you feel beautiful!

Can I stay in New York City the whole weekend?

It is possible, but might be challenging on Saturday night to return to the city. Finding Lyfts/Ubers to take you to and from the train station could be difficult.

The Welcome Drinks venue is walking distance to the Irvington MetroNorth Station.

How can I get to Westchester, New York?

By plane: John F. Kennedy (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), and Newark (EWR) are all about an hour drive from Westchester by car. Westchester County Airport (HPN) is the closest airport, about a 20 minute drive from the hotels.

By train: If you are flying into the New York City airports or considering New York City as your base for the weekend, trains run frequently from Grand Central Station in Manhattan to Tarrytown on the Hudson Line.Tickets can be purchased at the station or on the MetroNorth app. From the Tarrytown Station, you can call a taxi or Lyft/Uber to the hotels (about 10 minutes drive).

The location for Welcome Drinks (Red Hat on the River) is walking distance from the Irvington MetroNorth train station.

Should I rent a car?

A car might be helpful. The hotels are not walking distance from a town or the venue. We recommend coordinating cars among friends and family to give you some flexibility and allow you to explore the Hudson Valley. Transportation will be provided on Friday and Saturday to and from the three hotels. If you do rent a car, parking is available onsite.

Will organized transportation be provided?

On Friday and Saturday, there will be shuttles to take guests from the three primary hotels to the venue and back.

There is no shuttle on Sunday. If you think you will need a ride, please let Gillian or Luke know on Friday and we can help coordinate rides. After brunch, we can drop those going back to New York City at the Chappaqua train station and you can catch a train to Grand Central.

Are there taxis in the area?

Getting a Lyft/Uber from the Tarrytown train station to the hotel is likely doable.

Getting a car from Blue Hill on Saturday night might be more difficult. Below are three taxi companies that you could try to call:

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors, weather permitting. The reception will be indoors at the same venue.

Do you have a registry?

We know many of you will have traveled far to join us in New York. You doing so is a fantastic wedding present and we do not expect anything more.

For those looking, we have added some ideas to a US registry and a UK registry

Do you have any recommendations for the area?

We have put together a map of activities for eating, hiking, and exploring on the main page.

For those looking for dinner near the Welcome Drinks venue on Friday night, we recommend checking out Sambal (Thai/Malaysian food) next door or one of the other restaurants in downtown Irvington.

Is there an after party?

YES! It will be hosted at the same venue as the reception from 11:30pm-1:00am. Expect more dancing, late-night bites, and lounging.

Are children invited?

While we love your little ones, the Saturday events will be adults only so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. Children are welcome to join us for the events on Friday and Sunday. If you are looking for childcare options for Saturday, please reach out to Gillian.

We will be adding to this over the next few months, so please check back for more details or email/WhatsApp Gillian or Luke with questions.
